Gouramis

Mellow Beauties
Gouramis are both a colorful and unique brand of fish. They are grouped together with Bettas (the Siamese Fighting Fish) and a few others as Labyrinth Fish. All of the fish in this group have an extra breathing organ situated in their heads behind the gills that stores moist air from the surface of the water. This allows these fish to survive where dissolved oxygen levels are otherwise low.

Gouramis themselves tend to be slow moving and graceful - adding style to your tank. They are also bubble nest breeders, so it wouldn't hurt to have some floating plants about your tank.
